Amritsar, January 6, 2025 (KL JIT WALIA):- A training program on ethical values and ethics for officers and employees was organized at Bachat Bhawan by the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MAGSIPA), Chandigarh. The main objective of this training was to create awareness among officers and employees about the core principles of honesty, responsibility, transparency, and public service.
The training seminar was conducted by Mr. Prithi Singh, Regional Project Director, MAGSIPA, Jalandhar. Mr. Prithi Singh provided detailed guidance on official working procedures, ethical conduct during work, improving efficiency, and the importance of ethical standards while making decisions. He emphasized that adherence to ethical values not only contributes to individual development but also enhances the credibility and effectiveness of institutions. He stated that when government work is carried out in accordance with rules and laws, it fosters a new sense of confidence and enables employees to perform their duties without pressure. He further added that ethical decisions significantly influence one’s professional conduct.
Addressing the seminar, former Director of SIPRD, Mr. Kamaljit Ghai, said that the seminar was organized with the objective of promoting ethics and professional behavior at the workplace. He emphasized that ethical values and professionalism form the strong foundation of any institution’s success. He highlighted that by following key principles such as honesty, accountability, discipline, teamwork, and mutual respect, official work can be carried out successfully. He added that this not only builds trust but also creates a positive work environment. He further stated that following government rules and regulations in official functioning provides mental satisfaction. Mr. Ghai stressed that during service, employees should perform their duties without discrimination and stay away from favoritism and nepotism.
While addressing the seminar, former Deputy District Education Officer Mr. Rajeshwar Salaria advised employees that since they have to serve in government jobs for a long period, it is their duty to have complete knowledge of government rules and to perform their duties based on social norms. He said that an employee’s identity is defined by their work, and their working style reflects their overall impact.
Former Deputy Zonal Manager, Punjab National Bank, Mr. K. B. Singh, while addressing the seminar, stated that ethical conduct defines one’s professional identity. He said that when work is performed with full satisfaction and employees reach the office on time, there is no sense of fear or insecurity in the mind.
At the end of the training, certificates were distributed to the participating officers and employees. The seminar was described as highly beneficial, and emphasis was laid on the need for organizing more such training programs in the future. The participants expressed their commitment to always maintaining high ethical standards and professional conduct at their respective workplaces.
