Batala/Gurdaspur (Sarabjit Singh Kalsi), January 6 :- “I never thought of entering politics. God gave me strength and the people placed me on their eyelids and made me the MLA of Batala. What more could I ask for?
Even if I were born seven times and continued to serve the people of Batala, I would still not be able to repay the love they have given me. That is why I have only one goal—to bring all-round development to Batala and transform its face, for which I am working day and night.
Batala is my family, and I want people to cooperate. I welcome all suggestions to ensure Batala’s progress, prosperity, peace, and brotherhood, and I hope the people of the city will stand with me and support me so that, with the strength they have given me, I can do something meaningful for my constituency.”
These are not my words, but those of young visionary MLA Sherry Kalsi, who was speaking to me specifically about development works. While talking to Batala Assembly constituency MLA Sherry Kalsi, one feels as if one is conversing with a very calm, far-sighted, and wise person. Though Sherry is young, his long-term vision is clearly reflected in his policies. Whether someone belongs to his own party or the opposition makes no difference to him—whoever comes to him with work, he makes sincere efforts to get it done.

Rising above enmity, opposition, and the spirit of revenge, Sherry Kalsi has framed several important plans for Batala. Among these, the beautification of the chowk built in memory of the great national martyrs Bhai Sukha Singh and Bhai Mehtab Singh, and giving a new look to the memorial gate of Jagat Mata Sulakhni Ji, clearly reflects MLA Kalsi’s sincerity and commitment towards the Sikh community.
