Taking another significant step towards making Amritsar a clean, beautiful, and garbage-free city, Mayor Mr. Jatinder Singh Bhatia and Municipal Corporation Amritsar Commissioner Mr. Bikramjit Singh Shergill today inaugurated an advanced vacuum-based litter picking and drift-based dust blowing machine at Company Bagh.
This modern machine is capable of cleaning garbage, dry leaves, plastic bags, and other small waste from roadside areas using vacuum technology. With its deployment, road cleaning will become faster, more effective, and environmentally friendly.
On the occasion, Mayor Jatinder Singh Bhatia said that the Municipal Corporation Amritsar is continuously working to make the city clean, green, and waste-free. He informed that recently the Municipal Corporation has awarded the contract for garbage collection and transportation to RRR Company, under which new garbage collection vehicles have been inducted into service, and their number will be increased further in the future.
He stated that although sanitation workers and garbage collection vehicles clean the roads daily, some people still throw waste along the roadsides. To address this issue, two advanced vacuum-based litter picking machines have been introduced, which will help in thoroughly cleaning roadside areas. In the initial phase, these machines will operate in commercial areas, and in the next phase, more such machines will be deployed across the city. He added that through the use of advanced machinery, Amritsar will be transformed into a true smart city.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Mr. Bikramjit Singh Shergill said that a clean environment is the right of every citizen and that the Municipal Corporation is working with full dedication to make the city garbage-free. He appealed to the citizens not to litter on the roads, as it spoils the city’s beauty and has a negative impact on tourists and society.
Present on the occasion were Additional Commissioner Mr. Surinder Singh, Medical Officer Health Dr. Yogesh Arora, CSO Mr. Malkiat Singh, and representatives of RRR Company.
