Haryana heats up over Tikait’s arrest in Odisha
PRAVIEN WALIA Karnal, March 30 : The Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has strongly condemned the arrest of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait by the BJP government in Odisha. The organization described it as an attempt to suppress the voice of the farmers’ movement and a serious threat to democracy. Reacting sharply, BKU Haryana State President Ratan Mann said, “The arrest of Rakesh Tikait is a completely dictatorial act. The country’s farmers are raising their voice for their rights, and the government is trying to suppress them. The Bharatiya Kisan Union will not tolerate this injustice at any cost.” He further stated, “If Tikait is not released soon, farmers not only in Haryana but across the country will be forced to take to the streets. The government will be solely responsible for this.” In light of this development, BKU Haryana has issued a high alert across the state. Workers at all district, block, and village levels have been asked to remain vigilant and follow the organization’s instructions. If necessary, protests, road blockades, and other democratic methods will be adopted.” BKU leaders have demanded from the Central and Odisha governments that farmer leader Rakesh Tikait should be released immediately and unconditionally and a sensitive attitude should be adopted towards the farmers.
