Amritsar, March 28 (K. L. Jit Walia):A crucial meeting of the Amritsar Tent Dealers Welfare Association was held under the leadership of President Jatinder Singh “Happy” Narula at Hotel Sunny Royal. During the meeting, members associated with tent houses, marriage palaces, and the restaurant industry expressed deep concern over the shortage of commercial gas cylinders.
Speakers at the meeting stated that the unavailability of gas cylinders in the market is causing heavy losses to the tent industry. Due to the shortage, people are postponing weddings and other social events at their homes, bringing business activities almost to a standstill. They added that the marriage palace and restaurant sectors are also being severely affected by this issue.
Association members also alleged that along with the shortage, black marketing of gas cylinders is increasing, making it even more difficult for genuine business owners to access supplies.
They urged the Punjab Government and the district administration to ensure the immediate availability of commercial gas cylinders for businesses related to tent houses, marriage palaces, and restaurants. They also demanded strict action against black marketing so that business operations can return to normal.
On this occasion, several prominent members and social figures were present, including social worker Sunny Dara, Jagmohan Singh Dara, Chairman Surinder Mahajan, General Secretary Amarjit Singh, Amrik Singh Narang, Upinder Sehgal, Satinder Singh Narula, Senior Vice President Surjit Singh Tony, Smile Narang, Ashwani Mahajan, Sandeep Singh, Bobby, Jatinder Sharma, Kapil Mahajan, Puneet Tent, Anil Tent, Judge Tent, Gurinder Singh, Milan, Satpal Chawla, Shadi Lal Mehta, Happy Chawla, Makkan Sharma, Pal Tent, Gagandeep Singh, and many other members from the tent dealers, restaurant, and marriage palace associations.
The attendees collectively emphasized that resolving the gas cylinder crisis at the earliest is essential to revive the city’s event-based economy and support thousands of livelihoods dependent on this sector.
