Gurdaspur, June 5 (Balwinder Bhalla): In accordance with the directions of the Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, and under the guidance of Shri Dilbag Singh Johal, Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur, World Environment Day was celebrated at the District Court Complex, Gurdaspur, and the Sub-Division Court Complex, Batala.
The event was organized by Shri Harpreet Singh, Hon’ble Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur. World Environment Day is observed globally every year on June 5 to promote environmental awareness and encourage action for the protection of nature.
On this occasion, all Judicial Officers of the District Courts at Gurdaspur and Batala participated in the celebrations. The day was marked with great enthusiasm and commitment towards environmental conservation.
A special awareness programme was conducted to emphasize the importance of protecting the environment and increasing green cover. As part of the initiative, a plantation drive was launched, during which judicial officers planted saplings within the court premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mohit Bansal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Gurdaspur, stated that more and more trees should be planted to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment. He emphasized that the primary objective of celebrating World Environment Day is to protect nature and the Earth while improving environmental conditions.
He further urged every citizen to understand and fulfill their responsibility towards conserving natural resources such as water, air, and land, thereby contributing to a sustainable future for coming generations.
