Amritsar, May 14 (K.L. Jit Walia) – A meeting of the directly elected members of the Zila Parishad along with chairpersons of various Panchayat Samitis of the district was held today at Bachhat Bhawan, Amritsar, under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rupinderpal Singh.
During the meeting, which was conducted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Presiding Officer, elections for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairperson of Zila Parishad Amritsar were held. In the election, Sarabjit Singh Saba Ball was unanimously elected as the Chairman of Zila Parishad Amritsar, while Rajwinder Kaur was also unanimously elected as the Vice Chairperson.
After their election, both leaders thanked all the members for their trust and assured that they would live up to the expectations of the House. They stated that their main objective is to accelerate development in rural areas of the district and ensure that welfare schemes of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reach every eligible beneficiary.
They further added that they would work collectively with all members to speed up development work across the district.
The meeting was attended by several dignitaries including Block Samiti Verka Chairperson Navneet Kaur, Zila Parishad members Satnam Singh, Manjit Singh, Jasbir Singh, Baljit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Mandeep Kaur, Kamlesh Rani, and Panchayat Samiti chairpersons from various blocks including Harsha Chhina, Chogawan, Atari, Majitha, Raya, Ajnala, and Jandiala.
