Amritsar, May 9 (K.L. Jit Walia) – An important meeting of the Retired Patwaris, Kanungos and Naib Tehsildars Welfare Association was held under the chairmanship of District President S. Lakhwinder Singh Kohali, in which Punjab President S. Nirmaljit Singh Bajwa specially participated.
During the meeting, serious concern was expressed over the long-pending demands of the retired employees. The leaders stated that these demands had already been brought to the notice of the District Revenue Officer and the Deputy Commissioner several times earlier, but no solution has been found so far.
While speaking to journalists, Kulwant Dehriwal said that retired employees had spent their entire lives serving the Revenue Department, but now the same employees are being forced to make repeated visits to government offices for their own work, which the organization will never tolerate.
He appealed to the district administration not to harass retired employees at this final stage of their lives and to resolve their genuine demands at the earliest. He also warned that if the demands are not fulfilled, the organization will stage a protest outside the office of the District Revenue Officer, for which the administration will be fully responsible.
On this occasion, the organization also submitted a memorandum of demands to the District Revenue Officer.
