Amritsar March 4 – A joint meeting of retired revenue officials including patwaris kanungos naib tehsildars and tehsildars was held at Gurdwara Chhehvin Patshahi under the अध्यक्षship of Nirmaljeet Singh Bajwa. During the meeting pensioners discussed their long pending issues in detail and called upon the Government of Punjab to address them without further delay.
Kulwant Singh Dehriwal informed that the pension revision should be implemented on the basis of a 2.59 multiplication factor. He demanded that the pending arrears be released in a lump sum and that medical reimbursement bills be cleared within a fixed time frame. He also called for the restoration of the old pension scheme. Additionally he demanded that the pending 16 percent dearness allowance installments be released along with arrears stating that it is their constitutional right.
The speakers warned that if the government fails to accept their demands soon they will organize themselves at the state level and launch a protest movement. Several members including Lakhwinder Singh Kohali Tehsildar J P Salwan Naib Tehsildar Ashok Kumar Tarsem Singh Fattubila Baldev Singh Babbar Gurikbal Singh Major Singh Bhoma Jatinder Kumar Keval Krishan Joginder Singh Ramesh Pal Jaspal Singh Amrik Singh Dhananjit Singh and Harjit Singh also expressed their views during the meeting.
