Punjab Police being deployed in Delhi to please political bosses, compromising the state’s security, alleges Congress MP
Batala, July 28 (Balwinder Bhalla):
Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and the acute shortage of police personnel. He alleged that an AAP Member of Parliament has himself exposed the poor policing condition in the state.
Randhawa said it is deeply concerning that Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal had to publicly appeal for the withdrawal of his own security cover. He pointed out that Seechewal himself admitted that the police station in his area is facing a severe shortage of personnel. According to Randhawa, if MPs from the ruling party are acknowledging the lack of police staff, it is the clearest evidence of the Punjab government’s failure.
He further alleged that the rising crime rate has already weakened Punjab’s law and order situation. To please their political leadership in Delhi, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has deployed a large number of Punjab Police personnel in the national capital. As a result, Punjab is facing a shortage of police manpower, adversely affecting public safety while crime continues to increase.
Randhawa said ensuring the safety and security of Punjab’s citizens is the government’s foremost responsibility. However, he accused the AAP government of compromising the state’s security for political priorities. He demanded that the government immediately fill vacancies in police stations across Punjab, deploy adequate police personnel within the state, and take effective measures to strengthen law and order.
He warned that if the government fails to take timely and serious action, Punjab could face severe consequences due to the worsening security situation.
