Congress Holds Strong Protest Against BJP’s Anti-People Politics
Amritsar, February 6 (K. L. Jit Walia):The Congress party today organized a strong protest in Amritsar against Union Minister Ravneet Bittu and the alleged anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The protest was held in support of Rahul Gandhi and against what the Congress described as false, misleading and malicious propaganda being spread by the BJP against him.
On the occasion, former President of the District Congress Committee Mrs. Jatinder Sonia said that the BJP is deliberately misrepresenting Rahul Gandhi’s remarks related to Ravneet Bittu. She stated that the truth is that the Congress party gave Bittu full respect for many years, entrusted him with important organizational responsibilities and provided him opportunities to serve the people. Despite this, driven by the lure of power and personal interests, he abandoned the Congress and joined the BJP. She termed this not merely a change of party, but an open betrayal of the Congress ideology and its long-standing struggles.
Mrs. Jatinder Sonia clarified that Rahul Gandhi’s remark was not directed against any religion, community or society, but was made in the context of political betrayal—where a leader, after gaining everything from the Congress, joined the BJP and began attacking the Congress and its leadership. She alleged that despite this, the BJP is deliberately giving the issue a religious colour and falsely propagating that Rahul Gandhi called the Sikh community “traitors.” She described these allegations as completely baseless, insulting and aimed at spreading hatred in society.
She further said that the BJP has a long history of dividing society in the name of religion, spreading confusion and diverting public attention from real issues. The people of Punjab, she asserted, understand this conspiracy very well. Rahul Gandhi has always respected all religions and consistently spoken about brotherhood, equality and the protection of the Constitution. She said the BJP is afraid of Rahul Gandhi’s fearless, truthful and people-centric politics, which is why false narratives are being created to defame him.
The Congress party made it clear that the BJP has no moral right to question Rahul Gandhi. A party that has continuously ignored the rights of Punjab, farmers, youth and the sensitivities of a border state cannot lecture others on morality. The Congress reiterated that it will continue its struggle against the BJP’s politics of hatred and lies—from the streets to the Parliament.
