Amritsar, June 12 (K.L. Jit Walia): A comprehensive seminar aimed at creating awareness among small-scale industrialists about various beneficial schemes and subsidies offered by the Central and Punjab Governments was organized at the Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Guru Nanak Dev University. The event was conducted through the efforts of World Sikh Chamber of Commerce Punjab Chairman Rajinder Singh Marwaha and active member Tajinderpal Singh “Bobby” Badshah, in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Chandigarh.
At the outset, Guru Nanak Dev University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjit Singh was warmly welcomed by the organizers, including Rajinder Singh Marwaha and World Sikh Chamber of Commerce Amritsar Chairman Harpreet Singh Bhatia.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Karamjit Singh highlighted the support provided by the Central Government’s Small Industries Department in strengthening industrial production in Punjab, particularly in Amritsar. Speaking on the growing influence of artificial intelligence, he emphasized the need to maintain a balance between technological advancement and human labor.
Experts at the seminar provided detailed information regarding various government schemes, incentives, and subsidies available to entrepreneurs across different sectors. Abhishek Bawa discussed the importance of adopting energy-efficient machinery, while Gautam Sharma shared insights on effective financial management, waste management, and recycling practices.
Dr. Sanjeev Gupta explained the concept of industrial clusters and informed participants about subsidy schemes offered by both the Central and State Governments. Dr. Anupama Bains highlighted the importance of strategic marketing and product branding in enhancing business growth and competitiveness.
The speakers noted that India currently has around 30 million small-scale industries producing nearly 6,000 types of products. They stated that small-scale industries contribute approximately 45 percent of the country’s industrial production and account for nearly 40 percent of India’s direct and indirect exports. They also emphasized the significant role of small industries in improving product quality and driving economic development.
Among those present at the seminar were Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi, Amarjit Singh Narang, CA Paramjit Singh Rajewal, Shashi Ji, Sarbarinder Singh Sonu Sultanwind, Sumit Singh, Kulwinder Singh Marwaha, Architect Jasbir Singh, Advocate Paramjit Singh Tegh, Media In-charge Inderbir Singh, university professors, and a large number of entrepreneurs.
All distinguished guests and participants were honored with commemorative mementos at the conclusion of the event.
