Amritsar, June 10 (K.L. Jit walia):Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Iyali has formally joined the Akali Dal Waris Punjab De party. Addressing a press conference, Iyali stated that the party is currently functioning as an organizational structure and is yet to be officially registered with the Election Commission. He said that until the party receives formal political recognition, he will not resign from his position as an MLA.
Iyali said that Akali Dal Waris Punjab De is playing a constructive role in raising Punjab-related issues. He noted that the party includes prominent figures such as Tarsem Singh, father of MP Amritpal Singh, and MP Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa. He added that he has decided to work with the party to address Punjab’s concerns and strengthen regional political representation.
He stated that he would continue advocating for the release of Amritpal Singh and work towards safeguarding Punjab’s interests. Iyali emphasized that the party would remain committed to democratic principles and communal harmony.
Speaking on Punjab’s key issues, he said the party would focus on matters such as water rights, youth welfare, and the demand for Chandigarh. He remarked that Punjab needs a strong regional political force and that efforts would be made to unite Panthic parties on common issues.
On the occasion, Tarsem Singh, father of MP Amritpal Singh, alleged that his son had been detained despite the removal of the NSA and expressed concerns over his inability to participate in Parliament or address constituency issues. He also criticized the government’s handling of the drug problem in Punjab.
MP Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa welcomed Manpreet Iyali’s induction, saying it would strengthen the party. He noted that the party needed an experienced political leader and expressed confidence that Iyali’s experience would benefit the organization.
Several senior leaders and party workers were present during the event, including Harbhajan Singh Tur, Babu Singh Brar, Kabal Singh, Rachhpal Singh Sosan, Shamshar Singh Padhri, Karnvir Singh, Jashandeep Singh, Sandeep Singh Rupalon, Jaswinder Singh Drouli, Lali Raia, Gursevak Singh, Sukhbir Singh Valtoha, and others.
