Encourages Students to Pursue Excellence and Leadership
Mohali, June 6 (K.L. Jit Walia): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu visited Plaksha University on Saturday and interacted with the university’s senior leadership, faculty members, and students. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary education, practical experience, and responsible leadership in shaping India’s next generation.
Sandhu met with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rudra Pratap, Pro Vice-Chancellor Arvind Agarwal, Dean of Research Prof. Sunita Chauhan, founding community members Karan Gilhotra and Vishal Tulsyan, along with other faculty members. Discussions focused on the university’s academic vision, research initiatives, and efforts to nurture future leaders.
A major highlight of the visit was his interaction with more than 380 school students participating in Plaksha University’s YTS+ (Young Technology Scholars Plus) Summer Programme. During a fireside chat, Sandhu shared insights from his more than three decades of experience in the Indian Foreign Service and encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, hard work, and a commitment to excellence.
He stressed that exposure to diverse cultures, ideas, and experiences plays a vital role in an individual’s overall development. Referring to the diverse backgrounds of students attending the programme from across the country, he described it as a unique opportunity for learning and personal growth.
Sandhu praised Plaksha University’s efforts to break traditional educational boundaries and encouraged students to adopt a multidisciplinary mindset. He noted that future challenges cannot be effectively addressed by remaining confined to a single field of study.
He advised students to look beyond academic degrees, develop skills aligned with their interests, step out of their comfort zones, and gain real-world experiences that would help them become effective leaders and professionals.
Concluding his address, Sandhu said that true leadership is built on teamwork, empathy, and accountability. He urged young people to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions at the global level while bringing pride to India.
