Amritsar, May 12 (K.L. Jit Walia) – Ahead of the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections scheduled to be held in Punjab on May 26, senior Congress leader and Congress constituency in-charge for Majitha, Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar, held a meeting regarding the elections in all 13 wards of Majitha town at the residence of Majitha Urban Congress President and Councillor Navdeep Singh Sona.
During the meeting, after consultations with local residents, senior Congress leaders, and party workers, the names of candidates for all 13 wards were finalized. The details were shared in the presence of Observer and Coordinator Sarabjit Singh Sonu Jandiala, appointed by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.
Addressing the large gathering, Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar said that during the previous Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections, the ruling party did not even allow Congress candidates to file their nomination papers. He instructed party candidates and workers to remain alert this time and stated that every act of intimidation by the government would be strongly opposed.
Speaking on the occasion, Navdeep Singh Sona appealed to the residents of Majitha to support Congress candidates for the overall development of the town and urged voters to ensure a decisive victory for the party.
