First Such Action in Majitha Area; Similar Operations Will Continue: SSP Suhail Mir
Amritsar, May 12 (K.L. Jit Walia) – A government bulldozer was used to demolish an allegedly illegal structure linked to drug traffickers in the main town of Majitha in the Majitha Assembly constituency of Amritsar district. The demolition drive was jointly carried out by the Municipal Council Majitha, duty magistrate, and police administration.
During the operation, Suhail Mir personally reached the spot along with the Amritsar Rural Police team. Speaking to journalists, SSP Suhail Mir stated that several notices had earlier been issued by the Municipal Council regarding the property, following which police assistance was sought through the ADC office. The demolition was finally carried out in the presence of Duty Magistrate Gurpreet Singh.
SSP Suhail Mir said that the property belongs to Sunil and Karan, sons of Sucha Singh. He informed that Sunil is currently lodged in jail in Haryana in connection with a case registered under the UAPA, while his brother Karan is facing five separate cases under the NDPS Act in different police stations.
He described the action as part of the government’s ongoing campaign against drugs. SSP Suhail Mir further clarified that this is the first major action of its kind in the Majitha area and asserted that similar operations will continue in the future.
Heavy police deployment remained in place throughout the operation.
Among those present during the action were DSP NDPS Inderjit Singh, DSP Majitha Kamalmeet Singh, SHO Karam Pal Singh Randhawa, ASI Harjinder Singh, ASI Major Singh, Reader DSP Majitha Raj Kumar, Duty Magistrate Gurpreet Singh, JE Electricity Board Majitha Navjot Singh, SDO Local Government Gagandeep Singh, Municipal Council Superintendent Rajesh Kumar, Sub Inspector Harpreet Kaur, and Bikramjit Singh Jalalpur.
