Amritsar (K.L. Jit Walia, Phulljit Varpal):A protest demonstration was held outside the Power House at Secretary Bagh under the leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal Urban President and Councillor Surjit Singh Pehlwan against the ongoing power cuts. Leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal BC Wing, under the leadership of Urban President and Ward No. 43 Councillor Inderjit Singh Pandori, also participated in large numbers.
During the protest, Akali leaders raised strong slogans against the Punjab Government and warned that if the issue of power cuts is not resolved soon, a large-scale agitation will be launched.
Speaking to journalists, Surjit Singh Pehlwan and Inderjit Singh Pandori said that large-scale power cuts at the very beginning of the summer season reflect the failure of the Punjab Government. They stated that the shortage of electricity is severely affecting farmers’ crops, traders’ businesses, and students’ studies, which will negatively impact the state’s development.
They further informed that a memorandum addressed to the government was also submitted to the SDO of the Power House, with the aim of compelling the government to pay attention to this serious issue.
