Amritsar, April 8 — Senior BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina has welcomed the notification issued by the central government regarding the resolution of issues related to barbed wire fencing along the India Pakistan international border. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for addressing this long pending concern.
Chhina stated that the issue dates back to the 1990s when fencing was installed for security reasons. Due to its placement several meters and in some cases even kilometers inside Indian territory thousands of acres of fertile agricultural land became inaccessible and unusable for farmers. This caused significant hardships for farmers who were unable to freely access and cultivate their own land.
He added that this decision reflects the Prime Minister’s strong commitment towards the welfare of farmers. Chhina mentioned that he had personally written to both Modi and Shah in December last year requesting a solution to this issue and now the government’s decision has brought major relief to the affected farming community.
According to him this move will not only benefit farmers but will also strengthen border management and help curb cross border smuggling activities. He appreciated the continuous efforts of the central government in addressing key issues related to Punjab and expressed hope that the notification will be implemented effectively and in a timely manner.
On this occasion Chhina praised the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister and said that this step will mark the beginning of a new era of security and prosperity in the border areas of Punjab.
