Amritsar February 27 – The three day Rangla Punjab Festival organized by the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department of the Punjab Government began with great enthusiasm and grandeur at Ranjit Avenue Ground in Amritsar. The festival was inaugurated by Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO.
Several dignitaries attended the opening ceremony including Amritsar East MLA Jeevan Jyot Kaur, Amritsar West MLA Dr Jasbir Singh Sandhu, PANSP Chairman Prabhbir Singh Brar, District Planning Committee Chairman Gur Pratap Singh Sandhu, Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Vice Chairman Jaskaran Singh Bandesa, Tourism Director Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari and senior district officials along with prominent guests and members of the local community.
Addressing the gathering Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the main objective of the festival is to promote Punjab’s rich cultural heritage lifestyle and traditional cuisine at a global level. He stated that Rangla Punjab Festival presents diverse cultural shades of Punjab on a single platform. He highlighted that Punjabi culture is among the most vibrant cultures in the world known for its traditions hospitality folk dances such as Bhangra and Giddha and strong sense of brotherhood.
The minister added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann the state government is making continuous efforts to preserve and promote Punjab’s cultural heritage and connect the younger generation with their roots.
Tourism Director Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari informed that the festival will continue until late evening on March 1 2026. The event features a vibrant craft market showcasing traditional Punjabi handicrafts along with a food court having around 30 stalls offering a variety of cuisines. Special amusement rides have been arranged for children and various government departments have set up stalls to spread awareness about welfare schemes.
Renowned Punjabi singers will perform on all three evenings. On February 27 performances are being presented by Virasat Sandhu, Jaspinder Narula and Jazzy B. On the second day Meet Kaur Kaur B and Kulwinder Billa will entertain the audience while the final day will feature performances by Harjit Harman Baani Sandhu and Manmohan Waris.
Colorful folk dance performances of Bhangra and Giddha will remain major attractions. A special drone show will also be organized on the evenings of February 28 and March 1. Entry to the festival is completely free for the public and residents across Punjab have been invited to attend and experience the vibrant spirit of Punjabi culture.
