Jandiala Guru February 27 (Komal Gursevak Bhullar) – Punjab Public Works Minister and MLA from Jandiala Guru constituency laid the foundation stone of a new Press Club building to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore, presenting a major facility for the journalist community of the region.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said that the press is the fourth pillar of democracy and the Punjab government remains committed to protecting the rights and improving the working conditions of journalists. He added that journalists of the Jandiala Guru constituency had been demanding a dedicated press club building for a long time.
The minister informed that he had raised the demand before Punjab Chief Minister , following which the Chief Minister approved Rs 1.25 crore for the construction of the building.
While speaking at the foundation ceremony, he stated that the Press Club would prove to be an important facility for journalists. The building will include all basic amenities enabling journalists to conduct meetings press conferences and various informational activities smoothly. He assured that the construction work would be completed within the stipulated time frame while maintaining high quality standards so that journalists could benefit at the earliest.
On the occasion, members of the journalist community of Jandiala Guru expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Public Works Minister for fulfilling their long pending demand. Representatives of the Press Sangharsh Journalists Association Jandiala Guru along with several senior journalists and local dignitaries were present at the event.
Among those present were Aam Aadmi Party urban president Sarabjit Singh Dimpy former Municipal Council president Rajkumar Malhotra Aman Virk Sunena Randhawa and the minister’s wife Mrs Suhinder Kaur along with several prominent members of the local community.
