Phones Lost 2 to 3 Years Ago Also Recovered
Panipat, Haryana, September 15 (Dharamvir Sharma), Punjab Times News: Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Medha Bhushan, IPS, the Cyber Cell of Panipat Police traced and recovered 55 missing mobile phones. The total value of the recovered phones is estimated to be more than ₹14 lakh.
On Tuesday, DSP Headquarters Vikas Kumar handed over the recovered mobile phones to their respective owners at the police department’s auditorium located at the District Secretariat. People were delighted to receive their phones back after a long period and expressed their gratitude to Panipat Police.
DSP Headquarters Vikas Kumar said that people had lodged complaints regarding their missing mobile phones through the CEIR portal and with the Cyber Cell. Cyber Cell in-charge Sub-Inspector Himanshu and his team made continuous efforts to trace the phones using technical methods.
The team recovered 55 missing mobile phones belonging to different companies. The recovered devices were valued between ₹7,000 and ₹1.33 lakh. Several of the phones had been lost two to three years ago, and their owners had even stopped expecting that they would ever get them back.
He further said that the district police Cyber Cell had earlier traced and returned 55 missing mobile phones worth around ₹15 lakh in August, 50 phones worth ₹12 lakh in July and 47 phones worth more than ₹11 lakh in June to their respective owners.
If Your Mobile Phone Is Lost, Immediately Report It on the CEIR Portal or to the Police Cyber Cell
DSP Headquarters Vikas Kumar appealed to citizens not to be careless if their mobile phone is lost and to immediately lodge a complaint through the CEIR online portal or with the Cyber Cell. Timely reporting helps the police in tracing missing mobile phones.
He said that if a lost mobile phone falls into the hands of a person with criminal intentions, it could potentially be misused. Therefore, it is extremely important to inform the police immediately after a mobile phone is lost.
Panipat Police Cyber Cell will continue its efforts to trace missing mobile phones through technical means.
