Under the “Mission Clean Punjab” launched by the Punjab Government with the objective of making the state clean, green and pollution-free, a special cleanliness drive led by MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta in the Amritsar Central Assembly constituency continued with full enthusiasm for the second consecutive day. The campaign is being conducted from Jallianwala Bagh to the inner city areas.
Before starting the cleanliness drive, MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, along with his associates, paid obeisance at Jallianwala Bagh, the historic land associated with the martyrs.
On the occasion, Dr. Ajay Gupta said that keeping the holy city of Amritsar clean, green and beautiful is the top priority. He said that the administration and the Aam Aadmi Party team are continuously working to further improve the appearance of the city.
The MLA emphasized that cleanliness is not merely the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation but a collective responsibility of every citizen. If residents maintain cleanliness around them and dispose of waste only at designated places, Amritsar can be made even cleaner and more beautiful.
Dr. Gupta appealed to citizens not to throw garbage in the open or on roads. Instead, they should hand over household waste to Municipal Corporation door-to-door garbage collection vehicles or dispose of it in designated dustbins. He also urged people to completely avoid the use of plastic bags, which pose a serious threat to the environment.
On the occasion, Mayor Jatinder Singh Bhatia said that the collective cooperation of the Municipal Corporation and the general public is essential for making “Mission Clean Punjab” successful. He said that even small efforts by every citizen can make a significant contribution towards making Amritsar a clean, beautiful and model city.
Councillor Jarnail Singh Dhot, Amritsar Lok Sabha in-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party, along with AAP block in-charges, ward in-charges, sanitation officials and staff members, were also present during the cleanliness drive.
