Under the “Mission Clean Punjab” launched by the Punjab Government with the objective of making the state clean, green and pollution-free, the special cleanliness campaign being carried out in Amritsar continued with full enthusiasm on its second day.
On the second day of the campaign, a special cleanliness drive was conducted from Ram Talai Chowk to Gheeo Mandi Chowk under the leadership of Jeevan Jyot Kaur, MLA from Amritsar East. Cleanliness activities were also carried out in various other parts of the city, with special attention given to roads, intersections and public places.
On the occasion, MLA Jeevan Jyot Kaur said that making the holy city of Amritsar clean, green and beautiful is a major priority. Continuous efforts are being made by the administration and the Aam Aadmi Party team to further improve the appearance and cleanliness of the city.
She said cleanliness is not merely the responsibility of the government or administration but a shared responsibility of every citizen. If residents maintain cleanliness around their homes and workplaces and dispose of waste only at designated places, Amritsar can be made even cleaner and more beautiful.
The MLA appealed to residents not to throw garbage in the open or on roads. Instead, waste should be handed over to Municipal Corporation garbage collection vehicles or deposited in designated dustbins. She also urged people to avoid using plastic carry bags, which pose a serious threat to the environment.
She said that the joint cooperation of the government, administration and the public is essential for making “Mission Clean Punjab” successful. Even a small effort by every citizen can make an important contribution towards developing Amritsar into a clean, beautiful and exemplary city.
