National Flag is a Symbol of India’s Pride, Honour, and Unity; Authorities Should Hoist a New Tricolour with Due Respect
Amritsar, July 9 (K.L. Jit Walia): Prominent social worker and political leader Inderpal Singh Raja has urged the district administration to immediately replace the damaged national flag installed at Amrit Anand Park (Rose Garden) in D-Block, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar.
He said that the Tricolour flying at the park has been torn, which is a serious matter concerning the dignity of the nation. He emphasized that the Indian National Flag is not merely a flag but a symbol of the country’s unity, integrity, freedom, and the self-respect of every citizen. Therefore, it must always be maintained with the highest level of respect and honour.
Inderpal Singh Raja pointed out that hundreds of local residents, tourists, and devotees from across India and abroad visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib pass through this route every day. A torn national flag, he said, not only affects the image of the city but also hurts the sentiments of every patriotic citizen.
He appealed to the District Administration, Amritsar Municipal Corporation, and the concerned departments to remove the damaged flag in accordance with the Flag Code of India and hoist a new national flag immediately with full dignity and respect to uphold the honour of the nation.
He further stated that respecting national symbols is the moral responsibility of every citizen, and government institutions also have the duty to regularly inspect national flags and replace them promptly whenever required.
Expressing hope for swift action, Inderpal Singh Raja said he expects the district administration to treat the matter seriously and take immediate necessary steps to preserve the dignity of the National Flag and the pride of the city.
