Amritsar, July 7 (Bhullar, K.L. Jit Walia):A meeting of the Retired Patwaris, Kanungos and Naib Tehsildars Welfare Association, Punjab, was held under the chairmanship of District President Lakhwinder Singh Kohali. The meeting was attended by the Association’s Punjab President, Nirmaljit Singh Bajwa, as the chief guest.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that retired Patwaris, Kanungos, and Naib Tehsildars from across Punjab would participate in large numbers in the protest demonstration to be held in Chandigarh on July 17. The protest has been called by the Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front against the Punjab Government’s alleged anti-employee policies.
Addressing the gathering, the association leaders stated that the government has been continuously ignoring the long-pending demands of employees and pensioners, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among them.
On the occasion, Kulwant Singh Dehriwal demanded that the government:
Restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) immediately.
Release pending Pay Commission arrears based on the 2.59 fitment factor in a lump sum.
Withdraw the ₹200 monthly tax imposed on employees.
Release the pending 18% Dearness Allowance (DA).
Abolish the probation period.
Implement Punjab pay scales instead of Central pay scales.
Regularize all contractual, temporary, and outsourced employees.
Clear all pending medical reimbursement bills without delay.
Several leaders, including Major Singh Bhoma, Tarsem Singh Fattubhila, Sukhwinder Singh Sabi, Palwinder Singh, Surinder Singh (Tehsil President, Pensioners Association, Tarn Taran), Gurmeet Singh Chhapa, Suba Singh, Hardev Singh Bhoma, Narendra Singh, Ravinder Kumar Ravi, Ramesh Pal Singh, Jagjit Singh Baba, Joginder Singh, Parsan Singh Verka, Jagjit Singh Bhangali, Charanjit Singh, Rajinder Singh Kanungo, Jasbir Singh Ball, Jarnail Singh Ajnala, Gurbinderbir Singh Ajnala, Swinder Singh Ajnala, Joginder Pal Pandey, and Jatinder Kumar, also addressed the meeting and appealed to members to ensure the success of the July 17 protest.
