Around 230 patients examined; free diagnostic tests and medicines distributed
Amritsar, July 4 (K.L. Jit Walia):A large free medical camp was organized at Care & Cure Medicity Hospital on Mall Road–Batala Road to mark the 11th death anniversary of Late Smt. Swadesh Chopra, former Director of the Punjab Kesari Group, remembered for her compassion, service, and simplicity.
During the camp, nearly 230 patients underwent medical check-ups. Free tests, including blood sugar, blood pressure, blood tests, thyroid screening, ECG, bone density, and X-rays, were conducted, and medicines were distributed free of cost.
Camp inaugurated by Om Prakash Soni
The camp, organized under the joint leadership of hospital directors Sanjay Seth, Ajay Seth, and Amit Seth, was inaugurated by former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Om Prakash Soni. Former DIG Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Congress leader Vikas Soni, former MLA Sunil Dutti, and former councillor Raman Bakhshi were also present.
‘Providing healthcare to the needy is the greatest service’
Paying tribute to Late Smt. Swadesh Chopra, Om Prakash Soni appreciated the contributions of Punjab Kesari Editor-in-Chief Vijay Chopra, Joint Editor Avinash Chopra, Amit Chopra, Abhijay Chopra, Arush Chopra, Abhinav Chopra, and the entire Chopra family towards society and the nation.
He said the annual free medical camp held in her memory is an outstanding example of humanitarian service. He also interacted with patients and distributed medicines.
Hospital highlights healthcare facilities
Hospital Director Ajay Seth paid tribute to Late Swadesh Chopra and informed attendees about the hospital’s advanced healthcare services.
Under the leadership of Medical Director Dr. Nikhil Monga, specialists including Dr. Bikramjit Singh (Orthopaedics), Dr. Navdeep Kaur (Gynaecology), Dr. Shivangi (Dietitian), Dr. Nikhil Khanna, Dr. Sahil Chopra, Dr. Kamal, Dr. Varun, Dr. Akash, Dr. Gurpreet, Jatinder Singh, along with assistants Nitish Khanna, Sunny, and Neetika, examined patients and provided treatment and medicines.
Punjab Kesari’s social service praised
Former DIG Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said that the Punjab Kesari Group has set an example not only in journalism but also in social service. He added that when the media combines awareness with humanitarian service, it greatly benefits society and the nation. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to the doctors who participated in the camp.

Eleven years of continuous service to humanity
Raman Malhotra, who has been organizing free medical camps in memory of Late Swadesh Chopra in Amritsar for the past 11 years, along with his team, paid tribute to her and reaffirmed his commitment to continue this humanitarian initiative in the future.
