Former Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress President criticizes the Bhagwant Mann government
Amritsar, July 2: Former Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mamta Dutta accused the Punjab Government of failing to fulfill its promises to women. She said that during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had promised to provide ₹1,000 per month to every woman above the age of 18, but the government has failed to deliver on that commitment.
Mamta Dutta stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal had assured women during the election campaign that every eligible woman would receive ₹1,000 every month directly into her bank account after the party came to power.
She alleged that despite nearly 55 months having passed since the government assumed office, only ₹3,000 has been credited to women’s bank accounts, which, according to her, averages around ₹50 per month. She claimed that this amounts not only to a broken promise but also to a betrayal of Punjab’s women.
Mamta Dutta further said that women in Punjab now understand the gap between the government’s promises and reality and will respond to it democratically in the future.
