Ferozepur, June 30 (Rajeev Kumar, Rikku Wahi): Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, the three-day Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign was launched by administering polio drops to children. Dr. Dhingra appealed to parents to take all children between 0 and 5 years of age to the nearest polio booth for immunization and fully cooperate with the Health Department teams to ensure the campaign’s success.
Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra stated that on the first day of the campaign, polio drops were administered to children aged 0–5 years at booths across both urban and rural areas of Ferozepur district.
On this occasion, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma Thakkar and Acting District Immunization Officer Dr. Shayna informed that during the three-day campaign, polio drops were administered at fixed and transit booths on the first day. Children up to five years of age who missed vaccination on the first day would be covered through door-to-door visits by Health Department teams on the following two days.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ankush Bhandari, and Neha Bhandari said that mobile health teams are also visiting slum areas, temporary settlements, hamlets, brick kiln sites, and industrial units to vaccinate children under five years of age. Apart from Health Department staff, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, nursing students, and volunteers from social organizations are actively participating in the campaign.
Supervisors have also been deployed to ensure that no child below the age of five is left out of the immunization drive.
Dr. Dhingra added that various program officers are monitoring vaccination teams across the district to ensure that every eligible child receives the life-saving polio vaccine.
