Amritsar, June 15 (K.L. Jit Walia, Sham Gulati): On the martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj, the pioneer of the Sikh tradition of sacrifice, an embodiment of peace, and a guiding light of divine teachings, renowned architect Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia of Ahluwalia & Associates paid heartfelt tribute through the service of a Chhabeel (distribution of sweetened cold water) and Langar (community meal) in Guru Nagari Amritsar.
The service was organized outside his office at Income Tax Chowk with the blessings of noted religious scholar Surinder Singh Pal Ji and the generous support of Rajinder Singh Marwaha, Chairman of the Punjab chapter of the World Sikh Chamber of Commerce.
The Chhabeel and Langar began after an Ardas (prayer) offered by a Granthi Singh. Joining Surinder Singh Pal, Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, and Rajinder Singh Marwaha in serving the congregation were Harpreet Singh Bhatia (Chairman, World Sikh Chamber of Commerce Amritsar), Jatinder Pal Singh Bobby Badshah, Amarjit Singh Narang (CA), Rupinder Singh Kataria, Dr. Amarjit Singh Sachdeva, Harpal Singh Ahluwalia, Sukhwinder Singh Kohli, Principal Dr. Dharamvir Singh, Mandeep Singh, Dr. Jagjit Singh, and many other devotees. They actively participated in distributing cold water and Langar to the public as a mark of service and devotion.
On this occasion, Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Amritsar, also joined in serving Langar to the devotees and visitors.
A special feature of the initiative organized by Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia was its emphasis on cleanliness and environmental responsibility. The glasses and plates used during the service were collected immediately after use to ensure that no litter was left scattered on the roads. Furthermore, only clean and safe drinking water was used for the Chhabeel.
