Dinanagar, (Rajkumar, Rajeev) — The results of the Dinanagar Municipal Council elections have made the political atmosphere highly interesting. Out of a total of 15 wards, the Congress Party has won 7 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has secured 6 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 1 seat. In Ward No. 6, the result could not be declared due to a technical fault in the voting machine, and a re-poll is being speculated.
The biggest talking point of the election results is that former minister and sitting MLA Aruna Chaudhary failed to ensure a win for Congress in her ward. On the other hand, AAP’s constituency in-charge Shamsher Singh reportedly increased his vote base significantly.
A total of 8 seats are required to gain control of the Municipal Council presidency. At present, Congress has 7 seats and AAP has 6 seats, leaving the situation undecided. The result of Ward No. 6 is likely to decide which party will take control of the council.
Congress winners include Rajni Koutal, Manoj Gupta, Dr. Deepak Nishchal, Jagroop Randhawa, Narendra Vakil, Sunita Devi, and Asha Rani. From AAP, Pradeep Kumar, Bharti, Saroj Kumari, Praveen Kumari, Pinderpal Singh, and Pooja Devi won their respective wards. BJP candidate Ashwani Kumar also secured a victory in his ward.
