Amritsar, June 9 (K.S. Bhullar):- A meeting of the Retired Patwaris, Kanungos and Naib Tehsildars Welfare Association was held under the chairmanship of District President S. Lakhwinder Singh Kohali. Punjab President S. Nirmaljit Singh Bajwa attended the meeting as a special guest.
During the meeting, members expressed deep sorrow over the demise of retired Kanungo S. Santokh Singh Bhalaipur. A two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute and pray for the peace of the departed soul.
The association strongly condemned the alleged police lathi-charge on youth in Patiala who were demanding permanent appointments as Assistant Linemen in the Power Department. Members demanded that the government regularize the services of these youths at the earliest.
On the occasion, Harish Chander, Numberdar of Kotla Gujjran and a renowned artist, entertained attendees by performing the poetic verses of Baba Bulleh Shah and other cultural songs.
Several departmental and pension-related issues were discussed during the meeting. Association leaders assured members that all issues brought to their notice would be addressed and resolved as effectively as in the past.
Retired Patwaris, Kanungos, and Naib Tehsildars from Ajnala Tehsil informed the association that a bill clerk was allegedly causing unnecessary delays and difficulties in processing their pending bills. Taking serious note of the matter, the association urged the tehsil administration to immediately resolve the grievances of its members.
Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, Kulwant Singh Dehriwal thanked all retired members for attending the monthly meeting in large numbers despite the intense summer heat. He also announced that the next monthly meeting will be held on July 6, 2026.
