Amritsar, June 1 (K.L. Jit Walia, Phuljit Verpal):
A protest demonstration was organized today at 88 Feet Road under the leadership of former MLA Sunil Dutti against the alleged anti-people policies of the Central Government and the continuously rising inflation.
Addressing the gathering, Sunil Dutti said that the constant increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and other essential commodities by the Central Government has created serious hardships for poor and middle-class families. He stated that inflation has made it extremely difficult for ordinary households to manage their daily expenses.
Dutti alleged that the Central Government is indifferent to the problems faced by the people. He said that the depreciation of the Indian Rupee and the rising fuel prices have pushed inflation to alarming levels. According to him, the impact is being felt not only by common citizens but also by industries and businesses.
He further stated that several promises made by the Central Government remain unfulfilled, resulting in growing public dissatisfaction. People are now coming out on the streets to express their anger and concerns. He urged the government to take immediate steps to control inflation and provide relief to the public.
Among those present on the occasion were District Congress Committee Amritsar Urban President Saurav Mitthu Madan, Councillor Raminder Rami, senior Congress leader Sonu Dutti, District Mahila Congress President Rajni Sharma, senior Congress leader and Councillor Narinder Singh Tung, Karamjit Singh K.P., Bhanu Pratap Singh, Happy Masih, along with several office-bearers and workers of the Congress Party.
