Majithia’s Hooliganism and High-Handedness Will No Longer Work Says Talbir Gill
Majitha, May 26 (Subhash Chandra Bhagat) – A fierce clash broke out today between workers of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal during the Municipal Council elections in Majitha. Two Akali Dal workers were reportedly injured in the incident.
Following the clash, when Akali workers allegedly did not receive a satisfactory response from the police, senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia reached the spot and was seen arguing with Amritsar Rural SSP IPS Suhail Mir Qasim.
Speaking at Majitha police station, Bikram Majithia alleged that the Majitha police were functioning like puppets of the AAP government and were not listening to Akali Dal or any other opposition party. However, SSP Suhail Mir Qasim stated that the police were not acting with any bias.
Majithia further said that when the turban of a Sikh youth is removed and his religious sentiments are insulted, and even after being injured the youth has to plead before the police for justice, it clearly shows that there is no rule of law in Majitha but rather “the rule of Bhagwant Mann’s goons.”
He also accused the SSP of acting like a puppet of the Aam Aadmi Party and alleged that hooliganism, intimidation, and attacks on democracy were openly taking place in Majitha.
Meanwhile, AAP constituency incharge Talbir Singh Gill accused Majithia of bringing outsiders and troublemakers into the area to disturb the election atmosphere and intimidate AAP workers. He further alleged that there was even an attempt to forcibly drag one of their workers into a vehicle.
Gill denied allegations regarding the removal of a worker’s turban and claimed that the turban had fallen off accidentally during the scuffle.
Talbir Singh Gill further said that Majithia’s alleged hooliganism and pressure tactics would no longer work and claimed that the era of “goonda raj” in the area had come to an end.
