Amritsar, May 24 (K.L. Jit Walia) – Senior Akali leader and former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Saturday led a massive road show in Majitha on the final day of the election campaign with the support of party candidates, workers, supporters, and local residents.
Speaking to journalists during the road show, Bikram Majithia said that incidents of shootings, bomb blasts, attacks on petrol pumps, and extortion cases are continuously increasing in Punjab. Referring to the deteriorating law and order situation, he stated that earlier in the day, Traffic Police ASI Joga Singh was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified assailants near Hamza Morh in Majitha while he was on his way to duty. He said the incident clearly reflects the worsening security situation in the state.
Majithia also strongly criticized the functioning of the local police administration. He remarked that the flag march conducted recently in Majitha by the Amritsar Rural Police leadership to reassure residents had turned out to be merely symbolic and ineffective.
Speaking about the Municipal Council elections, Majithia said that the people of Majitha are wise and peace-loving and fully understand their interests and welfare. He expressed confidence that the residents would vote in favor of the Shiromani Akali Dal candidates and once again establish an Akali committee in Majitha.
