Amritsar, May 12 (K.L. Jit Walia) — A delegation of office bearers and residents of Shingar Avenue Welfare Society (Regd.), Chheharta, met MLA Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu of West constituency and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate intervention to stop alleged attempts to forcibly create a new passage through the colony.
The delegation was led by Society President Sukhdev Singh Dhillon, Senior Vice President Sarwan Singh Dhillon, Vice President Sukhbir Singh, Secretary Resham Singh Dhillon, and Cashier Dalip Singh (Retired Kanungo).
Residents informed the MLA that some individuals, allegedly with political backing, were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Shingar Avenue by forcibly connecting a privately owned passage with the colony streets. They said such an action would affect the colony’s security, privacy, and peaceful environment.
The society members clarified that Shingar Avenue already has an authorized route connected to GT Road and there is no requirement for any additional passage through the colony. They demanded that permission for any new route should not be granted under any circumstances.
MLA Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu assured the residents that their rights and concerns would be fully respected. He immediately spoke with the Municipal Corporation Commissioner over the phone and stated that no one would be allowed to forcibly create a passage through the colony.
The residents expressed satisfaction over the assurance given by the MLA and stated that if needed, they would also approach the court to protect their rights.
Several residents and society members were present during the meeting, including Makkhan Singh, Rajinder Singh Sandhu, Rana Pratap Singh, Raman Kumar Arora, DSP Harjinder Kumar, Baldev Singh, ASI Gurdev Singh Dhillon, Sukhwinder Singh Wadala, Balkar Singh, Harpal Singh, Anoop Singh Sohal, Amit Kumar, Daljit Singh, and many others.
