Amritsar, May 12 (K.L. Jit Walia) — Contributing to the Punjab Government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Services Club and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Boxing Club organized a one-day athletics race tournament under the leadership of coach Baldev Raj Dev at Cheema Sports Academy, Guru Ramdas Nagar, Kot Khalsa.
The medal distribution ceremony for the winning children was jointly conducted by Rama Mahajan, Managing Director of Ajit Vidyalaya School, and noted social worker Dheeraj Gill.
Addressing the gathering, Rama Mahajan said that in today’s time it is extremely important for children to stay connected with sports, as sports help them remain mentally and physically fit. She stated that children are the future of the country and participation in sports also keeps them away from social evils and negative influences.
She congratulated the children, parents, teachers, and school management teams from various schools and appreciated the efforts being made by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Services Club and Boxing Club.
Dheeraj Gill said that along with studies, participation in sports is equally important. He added that sports keep children away from excessive mobile phone usage and bad company. He highly praised boxing coach Baldev Raj Dev for his initiative.
