Amritsar, May 10 (K.L. Jit Walia) – Advocate Krishna Devgan and Advocate Kirandeep Pasi have submitted a written complaint and application to the Commissioner of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation, alleging serious irregularities and discrepancies in the salaries paid to councillors.
According to the complaint, Krishna Devgan’s mother, Mrs. Sunita Sharma, who served as a councillor from 2017 to 2022, was entitled to nearly 60 months of salary. However, the Municipal Corporation allegedly released only around 55 salary payments. Information collected from other councillors also revealed that some received salaries for 55 months, some for 56 months, while several others allegedly received fewer salary payments than due.
Advocate Krishna Devgan and Advocate Kirandeep Pasi stated that a complaint regarding this matter had earlier been submitted through Diary Number 94/95 dated September 10, 2025, but no response was received. Later, an RTI application was also filed, but no satisfactory reply was provided. They alleged that several salary entries were missing in the details provided by the corporation, raising suspicion of concealment of records.
They further stated that they are ready to provide bank statements, PAN details, account information, and all other necessary evidence to the corporation. They also said that if any false information has been presented by them, legal action may be taken against them. However, if financial irregularities amounting to crores of rupees are found in the corporation, a high-level investigation should be conducted.
They demanded that the Mayor and Commissioner ensure an impartial inquiry into the matter and order a re-calculation of the salaries of all councillors. They said that the issue does not concern just one individual but is linked to possible financial irregularities involving crores of rupees within the Municipal Corporation.
Advocate Krishna Devgan and Advocate Kirandeep Pasi warned that if justice is not delivered in this matter, the issue would be taken to higher authorities.
