Amritsar, May 9 (K.L. Jit Walia) – On the occasion of World Red Cross Day celebrated at Red Cross Bhawan Amritsar under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner-cum-President Red Cross Society Dalwinderjit Singh and under the supervision of Executive Secretary Red Cross Samson Masih, the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, functioning under the patronage of Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi, was specially honored for its humanitarian services. The honor was received on behalf of the Trust by its office bearer Manpreet Singh Sandhu.
During the event, Chief Khalsa Diwan President and MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar attended as the chief guest. Besides him, Red Cross Society Honorary Secretary Pragati Sethi (PCS), Executive Secretary Samson Masih, and District Education Officer Rajesh Sharma, while addressing the gathering, praised the continuous humanitarian services being rendered by Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi, founder of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, without any discrimination.
They stated that during the flood situation, the Trust extended major support to the Amritsar district administration by distributing ration kits, corn silage for animals, blankets, fogging machines, mosquito nets, tarpaulins and other essential materials on a large scale during the initial days. They further mentioned that after the floods, the Trust set a unique example by providing financial assistance of ₹1 lakh per family for the marriages of daughters belonging to flood-affected needy families.
Apart from the above dignitaries, Master Rajbir Singh from Pingalwara Society, Ashu Vishal, leaders of various social organizations, and administrative officers were also present on the occasion.
