Amritsar, April 28 (K.L. Jit Walia):A tragic road accident occurred in Chheharta, Amritsar, around 12:30 PM today, creating an atmosphere of shock and grief across the area.
According to available information, a young girl lost her life on the spot after being run over by a tractor-trolley loaded with मिट्टी (soil). Another युवक was seriously injured in the incident and was immediately admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Saloni, approximately 20 years old. She was a final-year student of B.Pharmacy at a polytechnical college in Amritsar and was on her way to appear for her first exam. She was traveling on an Activa scooter with her brother when a speeding tractor-trolley loaded with मिट्टी hit their vehicle from behind.
Due to the impact, both riders fell onto the road. At the same time, another tractor-trolley coming from the wrong direction at high speed ran over the girl, leaving her critically injured. Local residents rushed her to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way. The injured युवक has been admitted to a private hospital and is currently under treatment.
Following the accident, locals managed to catch the tractor driver along with another व्यक्ति and handed them over to the PCR team. Upon receiving the information, Chheharta police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
The Station House Officer stated that a thorough inquiry is being conducted and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
The incident has triggered anger and sorrow among residents. Prominent local figures, including social worker Gurjeet Singh, Balwant Singh Aare Wale, Sarabjeet Singh Harry, Dharam Pradhan Chheharta, Manpreet Singh Lali, Mukhtiar Singh Pappu, Raj Kumar, Sarabjeet Singh, Malkiat Singh, Iqbal Singh Kathania, Parjinder Singh Khalsa, Rajinder Singh Raju, Amarjeet Singh Kala, Gurdev Singh Mann, and President Jasvir Singh Arora, have demanded strict action from the district and police administration.
They urged authorities to take strong measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure strict punishment for the accused.
