Amritsar, April 26 (K.L. Jit Walia):Prominent social worker and former leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, Sanjeev Bhatia, while interacting with journalists, alleged that the party has treated MLA and former DIG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh unfairly. He said that the party benefited from Singh’s honest image, administrative experience, and popularity to form the government, but failed to give him the respect and key responsibilities he truly deserved afterward.
Bhatia stated that if the Aam Aadmi Party government had entrusted Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh with an important department or decision-making authority and taken his advice seriously, the current situation in Punjab could have been very different. He pointed out that drug abuse and gangsterism have increased significantly in the state, and Singh’s capability, strategic thinking, and strict administrative control could have helped address these issues effectively.
He further claimed that if the Home Ministry had been assigned to Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, drug-related problems could have been eradicated and gangster networks dismantled. Bhatia added that an honest and fearless officer should have received due recognition in politics as well, but certain influential individuals within the party do not want such upright figures to rise.
Bhatia also remarked that the neglect of Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh has already cost the Aam Aadmi Party politically, with voters expressing their dissatisfaction in elections such as the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections and Haryana Legislative Assembly elections. According to him, people are now realizing that sidelining honest leaders is not sustainable in the long run, and even the people of Punjab are gradually distancing themselves from the party.
Sanjeev Bhatia concluded by saying that the people of Punjab still trust leaders with clean images like Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh and expressed hope that such leaders will receive the recognition they deserve in the future.
