Amritsar March 10 (K L Jit Walia) – A special ceremony dedicated to International Women’s Day was organized on March 9 at Amira Farm in Amritsar by Vishv Punjabi Sabha Canada. The event was held through the joint efforts of Majha Zone President and noted industrialist Satbir Singh Sifar along with Chief Secretary Dr Jaswinder Kaur of the Punjab unit.
The event witnessed the participation of several distinguished women from fields such as politics literature social service healthcare and education. During the ceremony many prominent personalities were honoured for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
Among those honoured were Senior Deputy Mayor Priyanka Sharma Raman Chaudhary Law Officer Punjab Dr Sukhbir Kaur Mahal former Principal of Khalsa College for Women Amritsar Artinder Sandhu editor of Ekam Magazine Dr Baljit Kaur Riar Assistant Professor in Punjabi Department Dr Prabhjot Kaur Sandhu former Chief Librarian Prof Dr Anchal Arora from Commerce Department of Guru Nanak Dev University Dr Tajinder Kaur Nagpal Dr Harmohinder Singh Nagpal Dr Jaswinder Kaur Punjabi writer teacher and motivational speaker and Dr Nidhi Pathak founder of Asha Foundation and education consultant.
Other dignitaries honoured included Mrs Raj Jannat Dr Maggie Bagga Prof Dr Gurpreet Kaur Dean Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts at Guru Kashi University Mrs Nirmal Kotla Rajbir Kaur Grewal Ritu Vasudev Rupinder Kaur Mahal Antarpreet Kaur and Amandeep Kaur.

The program was gracefully anchored by Mrs Satnam Kaur and Mrs Sukhraj Kaur. The event also featured a poetry session speeches and intellectual discussions.
All literary and social personalities present appreciated the initiative and praised Satbir Singh for organizing such a meaningful event under the banner of Vishv Punjabi Sabha Canada to honour and celebrate the achievements of women.
