Amritsar, January 30 (K.L. Jit Walia):Aam Aadmi Party Block President of West Amritsar constituency, Ladi Sahota, stated that the village of Gumtala and its adjoining areas, which were earlier known as strongholds of drug abuse, are now becoming largely drug-free.
He said that since the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the police administration—under the leadership of City Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and ACP Shiv Darshan Singh—has been carrying out continuous action against drugs and crime. He added that the area SHO Jatinder Singh, Chowki In-charge Gurpreet Singh, and their team are doing commendable work.
Ladi Sahota said that all elements involved in drug trafficking have either left the area or have been sent to jail under legal action. Continuous search operations are being conducted by the police, which has also led to a decline in the crime rate in the area.
He alleged that some miscreant elements, who were earlier associated with people involved in illegal activities, are now annoyed by the strict action taken by the administration and are attempting to defame the Aam Aadmi Party, local MLA Dr. Jasbir Singh, party leadership, and administrative officials by spreading false news and filing baseless complaints.
Ladi Sahota said that he and his party are fully aware of such intentions and will not allow these elements to succeed. He assured that they will always continue to cooperate with the government and the administration to make the area completely free from drugs and crime.
