Drug addiction is a social curse and must be eradicated: Advocate Nijjar
Amritsar, May 20 (K.L. Jit Walia) – KPR Culture and Welfare Society organized a powerful stage performance of the anti-drug awareness play “Armaan” at Virsa Vihar, Amritsar. Written by Jatinder Brar and directed by Aman Kumar Bhartwaj, the play effectively highlighted the serious threat of drug abuse spreading across Punjab and its harmful impact on society.
The main objective of the play was to spread awareness among people, especially the youth, about the dangerous consequences of drug addiction and inspire them toward a positive path. The audience highly appreciated the impactful performances delivered by the artists.
MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh and Advocate Harpal Singh Nijjar, Chairman of the Aam Aadmi Party Legal Wing Majha Zone, attended the event as chief guests.
Special guests included Holy Heart School Director Mrs. Anjana Seth, prominent social worker Satbir Singh, President of Vishav Punjabi Sabha Canada Unit India, Punjab Media Times Chief Editor K.L. Jeet Walia, Bal Krishna BK Dhaba, social worker Sucha Singh Ajnala, People for Human Rights Chairman Ginni Bhatia, Chief Dr. Charanjit Singh, Rajesh Puri, Advocate Aman Sharma, social worker Narendra Singh Saggu, Kulwant Singh Malli, Gurpreet Singh Bamrah, Punjab Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray Youth President Rohit Pasi, DPI Punjab President Satnam Singh, and Sanjeev Bhatia.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said that such plays play a vital role in bringing positive social change. He stated that all sections of society must unite to eliminate the menace of drugs. He further said that Punjab is the sacred land of Gurus, saints, and spiritual leaders, and drugs have no place here.
Advocate Harpal Singh Nijjar praised the play “Armaan” for clearly portraying the devastating effects of drug addiction. He described the initiative as highly commendable and said that drugs are like a cancer in society and must be eliminated at the earliest.
Mrs. Anjana Seth and Satbir Singh appealed to parents to closely monitor their children’s activities and maintain regular communication with them to protect them from bad company and harmful habits.
The play featured impressive performances by Aman Bhartwaj, Rakesh Sharma, Dolly Sandal, Gurjeet Arora, Diwan, Shahri Singh, Diya Sharma, Chetan Sharma, Pari, Jagdish Jabbal, Parvinder Goldy, Seena, Gagan Shergill, and Harish Chaudhary, who left the audience spellbound.
At the conclusion of the event, director Aman Kumar Bhartwaj thanked all the guests and honored the artists and special guests with mementos.
