Tarn Taran, May 5 (Iqbal Singh Ahaluwalia): In the Under-23 one-day cricket tournament being organized by the Punjab Cricket Association, the Tarn Taran cricket team has defeated Kapurthala to secure a place in the semi-finals.
Head coach Lavpreet Singh informed that in the quarter-final match played at Kapurthala, the home team scored 197 runs while batting first.
For Tarn Taran, bowler Amrojpreet took 4 wickets, Namitvir took 3 wickets, and Sukhchain Singh dismissed 2 batsmen. Ashmeet Singh also delivered an impressive spell, conceding only 26 runs in 9 overs and taking 1 wicket.
Chasing 197 runs, Tarn Taran started cautiously but later batsman Ganesh played a brilliant unbeaten century, scoring 102 runs, while Namitvir remained unbeaten on 60 runs. Their performance helped Tarn Taran register a convincing 8-wicket victory.
After the win, Tarn Taran Cricket Association President Abhijit Singh Sandhu, Vice President Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Secretary Advocate Harminder Singh Dhillon, Sherjang Singh Hundal, and Joint Secretary Rosy Singh congratulated coach Sartaj Singh and the entire team.
They praised the players, stating that reaching the semi-final within just one year is a remarkable achievement.
