Amritsar, March 7 (K.L. Jit Walia) — During the Holi fair celebrations at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, the sacred meditation place of Baba Wadbhag Singh, individuals contributing to social welfare were specially honored for their service to society. The ceremony was organized by the management committee of the gurdwara under the leadership of Sant Mahapurush Baba Swarnjeet Singh.
On this occasion, the President of Akal Seva Foundation, Harpal Singh Randhawa, and well-known social worker Sarbjit Singh Sonu Jandiala were honored with a traditional siropa as a mark of respect for their dedicated social service.
Addressing the gathering, Sant Baba Swarnjeet Singh said that people who work selflessly for the welfare of the nation and society deserve appreciation and encouragement. He emphasized that in the present time, the youth of Punjab need proper guidance and positive role models, and the efforts of such social workers serve as an inspiration for the younger generation.
He also highlighted that Sarbjit Singh Sonu Jandiala has been actively running awareness campaigns to protect the environment and conserve natural resources such as air, water, and land. In addition to environmental work, he has also set an example of humanity by helping more than 100 people injured in road accidents reach hospitals on time.
Furthermore, he has been making continuous efforts to prevent small children from begging and instead connect them with education so they can build a better future.
The Sant Mahapurush also appreciated the social welfare initiatives carried out by the Akal Seva Foundation and stated that organizations working for the betterment of society should always be encouraged and supported.
Members of the gurdwara management committee and a large number of devotees were also present on the occasion.
