Amritsar, March 7 (K.L. Jit Walia) — Gurpreet Singh Kataria, Chairman of the District Traders Commission Amritsar, has welcomed the announcement made by Bhagwant Mann and Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora regarding the construction of Punjab’s largest convention center in Amritsar. The project will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹50 crore and is expected to significantly boost business and tourism in the city.
Along with the convention center project, major investments are also being planned by Mahindra Group and SS Group. These companies will invest around ₹460 crore in three different projects. As part of this development, a 110-room hotel will also be constructed near the revered Sri Harmandir Sahib, which is expected to improve accommodation facilities for visitors and tourists.
Kataria stated that recently the District Traders Commission Amritsar organized a large meeting with traders from across the city. During the meeting, the trading community strongly demanded the construction of a modern convention center in Amritsar to support business events, exhibitions, and large gatherings.
He appreciated the Punjab government for accepting the demand raised by traders and the commission’s office bearers. According to him, the upcoming convention center will create new opportunities for trade, conferences, and tourism activities in the city.
Kataria further said that the District Traders Commission Amritsar is fully committed to resolving the issues faced by traders. The commission will actively visit markets and interact with traders to listen to their concerns and ensure that their problems are addressed promptly.
He also emphasized that the commission will work shoulder to shoulder with traders and industrialists of Amritsar to promote business growth. Every possible facility that traders deserve will be ensured so that the commercial sector of the city continues to expand and prosper.
