Amritsar, February 27 (K L Jit Walia): Ahead of the Holi festival, a special meeting of goldsmiths was held today at the shop of Amrik Singh Avenue Jewellers in Cheharta market.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that goldsmiths in Cheharta market, as well as those in Wadali Roadtar Singh Jeweler, Hardeep Singh The goldsmiths emphasized the importance of celebrating festivals together as a community, preserving traditional customs, and spending quality time with family. They also expressed their hope that customers would understand the temporary closure and support the decision to maintain the cultural spirit of Holi.
Local residents and regular patrons were informed in advance about the shop closures to avoid any inconvenience. The community leaders highlighted that such coordinated efforts by shopkeepers strengthen bonds among traders and promote unity in the market.
With the shops closed on March 3 and 4, the festival celebrations in Cheharta and surrounding areas are expected to be more vibrant and family oriented, allowing goldsmiths and their families to participate fully in the traditional rituals and festivities of Holi.
After March 5, all businesses are expected to reopen and resume regular services, ensuring a smooth continuation of trade in the market following the festive break.
