Amritsar, Feb 23 (K.L. Jit Walia): The festival of Maha Shivratri was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in New Jawahar Nagar and Green Valley Colony, Batala Road, under Municipal Corporation Ward No. 16. A large number of devotees participated in the religious program, offered prayers, and sought blessings of Lord Shiva in a spiritually charged atmosphere.
Former president of the District Congress Committee (Urban) Ashwani Kumar Pappu attended the event as a special guest. In his address, he said that Maha Shivratri is a festival symbolizing faith, trust, and unity, and it spreads the message of love, brotherhood, and positive energy in society. He extended his greetings to residents and prayed for everyone’s happiness and prosperity.
Ward No. 16 councillor Sandeep Sharma Rinka, social workers Yashpal Sharma, Anil Tandon, Rinku Chadha, and Rakesh Bhagat, along with several other prominent citizens, were also present. The guests appreciated the religious gathering and said such events strengthen social harmony and community bonds.
During the event, an uninterrupted community langar was organized for devotees, where a large number of people partook in the meal and contributed to voluntary service. The organizers stated that similar religious and social programs will continue in the future to promote unity and goodwill in society.
