Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Flags Off the Vehicles
Chandigarh, February 6:- In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening road safety and emergency response services, the Honda India Foundation (HIF) on Tuesday handed over 25 Quick Response Team (QRT) motorcycles to the Udaipur Police. The initiative was carried out under the Foundation’s flagship road safety programme, “Sadak Sahayak: Safe Roads, Safe Lives.” The motorcycles were formally flagged off by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
This initiative aligns with the Governor’s vision of faster emergency response and safer roads. The specially customised Honda Shine 100 motorcycles will enhance traffic management, emergency assistance and grassroots-level policing, particularly in congested and sensitive areas. The project is based on a similar model that has already been successfully implemented in Chandigarh and other regions.
The initiative also reflects Honda’s global commitment to achieving a Collision-Free Society by 2050. Over the past year, the Honda India Foundation has provided a total of 250 QRT motorcycles to police departments across Gujarat, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka.
Social activist Karan Gilhotra played a key role in the conceptualisation and implementation of this public–private partnership-based road safety project.
The handover ceremony was attended by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Namit Mehta, District Collector, Udaipur; Gaurav Srivastava, Inspector General of Police, Udaipur; Yogesh Goyal, Superintendent of Police, Udaipur; and Rajiv Taneja, Operating Officer, Honda India Foundation, along with several senior police officials.
Equipped with rotating flash lights, public address systems, sirens, torches, storage boxes and safety helmets, these QRT motorcycles are expected to significantly reduce response time, improve law enforcement efficiency and help save valuable lives.
