Amritsar Sahib, August 21 (Bhullar Devidas Puria): A meeting of the Retired Patwaris, Kanungos and Naib Tehsildars Welfare Association Punjab was held under the chairmanship of Punjab President S. Nirmaljit Singh Bajwa. Representatives from various districts across Punjab participated in the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, the association thanked all retired Patwaris, Kanungos and Naib Tehsildars for their participation in the mega rally held at Dana Mandi, Chandigarh, on August 7, 2026, against the government’s policies concerning employees. The members said that such a large gathering after Independence in 1947 reflected the unity and strength of the employees and pensioners.
The members were also directed to extend full support to the Punjab bandh scheduled for August 27, 2026, called by the Joint Employees’ Front Punjab and Employees and Pensioners Front Punjab against the government’s policies. The association appealed to its members to make the proposed bandh a statewide “Punjab Maha Bandh” on the lines of the earlier mega rally.
Decision to file only two cases through senior lawyers
The meeting also discussed the proposed new legal case concerning the Senior Junior Grade issue. After detailed deliberations, it was decided that instead of individual districts filing separate cases, representatives from all districts would jointly engage two senior and experienced lawyers and file only two cases.
The association members said that filing separate cases by individual districts often results in prolonged litigation and delays. Therefore, a collective legal approach was considered more effective.
Apart from Punjab President Nirmaljit Singh Bajwa, Darshan Kumar from Ludhiana, Harminder Singh from Amritsar, Gurtej Singh Pakka from Bathinda, Jagdish Kumar from Faridkot, Gurdeep Singh Kuka, Mohar Singh from Muktsar Sahib, Jugraj Singh from Sangrur, Malkiat Singh Mann from Ropar, Palwinder Singh from Patiala, Mehar Singh from Pathankot, Puran Singh from Tarn Taran and Gurmel Singh Virk, among others, addressed the meeting.
